Are themes related to firmware version?

Im sorry if im bugging everyone by posting such a noob question  here... but i think i read some where that themes are specific firmware compatible. Is it true?? or they work with any firmware??

if so i got kp500AT_v10c i knw its old....   

which themes are compatible with this firmware?? and also which is the best firmware version uptill now?

I think you have to use V10D_08 firmware for custom themes

the latest version is V10F_06, and that works fine with custom themes,  i used to have V10C_02 and that was good aswell, you can use themes on any firmware, you just cant use a cust from another firmware on your own, it has to be your own cust that your using

For me the best firmware is V10d...never had problems with it

i have a huge problem - tried to install (my first) CUST_THEME but smth went wrong and i cant turn on my phone anymore...
i read that someone had a similar problem and installed a new firmware (10d i think)

now my question: what is firmware, where can i download it and what is it for? can it help me get my phone back to work?

I use now: 10e, the menu better, no slow.
